Fishing at Point of View Resort

During the spring, summer, and fall months POV Resort is a beautiful wilderness area, just waiting to be played in.

Spring offers the opportunity to surprise a doe and her fawns and to view the multitude of wild flowers. May and early June boasts some of the best fishing around, including some of the best fishing in North America for musky. Walleye and panfish are also plentiful on North Twin Lake. POV is located on the 3,000 acre Class-A musky fishing North and South Twin Lakes.

Summer turns the forest into a carpet and canopy of green. There are a large number of popular hiking trails and berry picking outdoor activities minutes away. Mountain bikers and hikers can utilize the many miles of marked trails, and there are over 130+ miles of groomed ATV trails nearby. Bring your boat and enjoy any one of the 1,300 lakes and 73 county rivers/streams just a short drive away. From remote ponds to easily accessible backwaters of some of the area’s largest lakes, paddlers and anglers will have no trouble finding their own piece of paradise. And, 12,000 people come to Beef-A-Rama in Minocqua every summer.

Mother nature paints her best colors near the end of September and early October, so don’t forget your camera in the fall! Tens of thousands of people come to see exceptional fall foliageHunters have easy access to huge expanses of deer, grouse and small game territory. Fishing is again superior – anglers abound! For Area Events, the Eagle River area is proud to bring back old favorites like Cranberry Fest the first weekend in October and young, budding events like the SepTimber Ride this September.

Some of the many activities available nearby POV Resort in the spring, summer, and fall months are:

For wave runner rentals, we recommend TracksideToy Shop, or the Boat Shop – all in Eagle River. Most will deliver to the resort for a fee.

For kayak, tubes, and paddle board rentals, we recommend LifeStyle Fitness (on North Twin Lake), Sylvania Outfitters in Watersmeet, and Land O Lake’s Rentals (they deliver).

Snowshoeing at POV Lake Resort

A stay at POV Resort in the cold brings you to a winter wonderland

We offer great ice fishing on site – including ice fishing hut and gear package rentals. Also within minutes of the resort are groomed indoor and outdoor ice rinks, day and nighttime sledding hills and sleigh rides, and more hiking opportunities. Great ski hills (Ski Brule is only 35 minutes away — where US Olympic Medalist train!) and cross-country ski courses are nearby. Minocqua and Eagle River are also home to two of Northwood’s premiere winter parks, groomed winter wonderlands for outdoor activities. And within minutes of the resort is awesome shopping in downtown Eagle River! The area also hosts the World Snowmobile Championships, bringing 30.000 people to Eagle river as well as 2,000 competitors competing in the Adult Pond Hockey Championships.

POV Resort is also directly on the famous  snowmobile trails of the Eagle River area – some of the best-groomed trails in the nation. The resort has access to two well-groomed snowmobile trails off of North Twin Lake – the Conover Sno Buddies Trails (80+ miles) and the Phelps Snowmobile Club Trails (40+ miles). Guests are encouraged to bring their own snowmobiles or have them delivered by a third-party rental service.

For snowshoeing, we do have snowshoe sets for rent (women’s, men’s, children’s) at the resort. For more info on our winter gear rentals click here

We also rent ice fishing gear and tents so you don’t have to bring your own!

For ski and snowshoe rentals, we recommend Eagle Sports CenterHikers Box, or Walkabout Paddle & Apparel in nearby Eagle River or Sylvania Outfitters in Watersmeet.

For snowmobile rentals, if you don’t have a snowmobile sled of your own, or yours is on the fritz…guests are encouraged to rent a snowmobile from one of our third-party partners – 4 Seasons Powersports Rental (Conover), Tracksideor Toyshop in Eagle River. Rent from them and ride your sled back to the resort via connected trails (approx. a 20-30 min ride). You can schedule a ride back to Trackside with Allison’s Bar Car to get your vehicle 😀
